Edmonton School Gym AV Upgrade
An Edmonton school replaced an underperforming gym PA and installed a 16.8 × 8.4 ft epoxy-coated LED scoreboard with presets for multiple sports.

The starting point
Project context and challenge
The previous PA did not provide good coverage across the gym, and EQ had not been configured for the space. The school selected an LED scoreboard rather than projectors.
Designed for the facility
System approach and installed scope
Easy Audio Visual installed the epoxy-coated LED scoreboard, eight suspended powered loudspeakers, XR18 mixing, dbx PA2 processing and four Shure wireless microphones. Scoreboard software included presets for basketball, soccer and volleyball.
Putting the system into service
Installation and commissioning
The scoreboard was mounted to a cinder-block wall and loudspeakers were suspended from building joists. No public engineered-approval claim is made because supporting documentation was not supplied.
Prepared for daily operation
Training and handover
The media team, staff and supervised student operators received training in system operation, troubleshooting and configured presets. Supporting documentation was provided.
What project observers reported
Evidence-supported outcome
Observers reported good sound coverage, balanced speech and music, clear scoreboard visibility in the brightly lit gym, and easier operation. The protective coating observation is not a formal impact test or future guarantee.
